FAQs

What is DTG?

Direct-to-Garment (DTG) Printing is an inkjet technology for printing on textiles - in our case Tshirts.  There is little to no set-up, which allows for faster turn-around times, and the ability to print smaller quantities. DTG is also great for printing detailed designs and photorealistic images with almost no color limitations.  You can expect great quality out of DTG-printed shirts even after washing and wearing it multiple times.

Why DTG instead of Screen Printing?

Each type of printing has its benefit, we just happen to LOVE DTG.  DTG is best for artwork with lots of colors or photo-realistic images, small quantity jobs, on-demand printing, and quick-turn orders to name a few.  Screen printing is best for large quantities with 1-2 colors and any specialty materials that can't be printed digitally. 

Do you offer Screen Printing?

Yes! We evaluate each new job and will recommend the best printing method based on your artwork, shirt choice and quantity. 

What is your minimum?

With new art, we require a minimum of 12 pieces for DTG and a minimum of 36 pieces for Screen Printing. If you have printed DTG with us before, and have NO art changes, then we are happy to help with a smaller print run. Please contact us directly, and we'll work to get your job started for you.

What is your turn-around time?

For DTG, our standard turn around time is 7-10 days, but we will let you know if we have your job complete early.  In some cases, orders are ready in 3-5 days if  we have the shirts in stock.

What art format do you need for my job?

Submitting high-quality artwork is key to a good-looking, printed Tshirt.  You've heard the adage, "garbage in, garbage out"?  That applies here.  Please provide either the layered vector file with text converted to outlines OR a 300dpi raster image.  We will accept transparent pngs if saved to the actual print size or larger. 

What if I don't have print-ready art?

WE NO LONGER OFFER DESIGN SERVICES for new art. We are happy to make small tweaks to submitted art, if the file is editable. For new designs, we recommend hiring a graphic designer to help you with your tshirt design, then submitting the final design to us for printing. 

Which brand of Tshirts do you recommend? 

With the DTG process, 100% cotton Tshirts print the best, but we print on some 60/40 cotton/poly shirts. as well  We've found we get the best result with Bella-Canvas 3001, Bella-Canvas 3001CVC, Next Level 3600, Next Level 6210, and Comfort Wash GDH100. 

Can I bring in my own shirts for you to print?

Unfortunately, No, we only print on shirts we provide. DTG printing is part art, part science and whole lot of trial and error to find the shirts, and even colors, that print the best. There are some brands/colors that simply can't be printed with our process due to the dyes and fabric content of the shirt.  Bella-Canvas, Next Level and Comfort Wash brands are our "go-to" for DTG printing.  We prefer to control the variables to make sure we provide you with the best quality final product. If you have already purchased one of those brands, then please give us a call, and we'll see what we can work out. 

Will you ship my order?

Yes, of course!  We're happy to ship your order for you.

Do you offer Embroidery?

Yes, we do offer embroidery with a minimum of 36 pieces.  Please contact us for more information. 

What other services do you offer besides DTG?

Why the name Nogginhed?

When the corporate job was getting too demanding of personal time, which meant time away from kids, we sought out a solution that would marry experience and passion in a local environment with no travel.   Design/Marketing + Tshirts + Huntsville = Nogginhed Tshirt Co.  The name, Nogginhed, is a throwback to silly, childhood nicknames that stuck with us. Every day we're reminded to focus on what matters and keep things light-hearted and fun when at all possible!
